Trump Names New Surgeon General After Means WithdrawalFollowing Senate doubts, Trump withdrew Means and nominated Dr. Nicole Saphier, an expert in breast imaging and health reform.
- Dr. Casey Means' surgeon general nomination stalled amid concerns about her credentials and vaccine stance.
- President Trump proposed Dr. Nicole Saphier, a breast imaging specialist, as a replacement nominee.
- Means attributed her failed nomination to a prolonged smear campaign targeting the MAHA movement she champions.
- Saphier has occasionally challenged Trump’s health messages, notably on Tylenol use during pregnancy.
a STAR physician who has spent her career guiding women facing breast cancer through their diagnosis and treatment.— Donald Trump, in a social media post announcing his nomination of Saphier; he described her as a 'STAR physician who has spent her career guiding women facing breast cancer through their diagnosis and treatment.'
