- Pope Leo XIV called for disarmament and dialogue to resolve global conflicts in his inaugural Easter message as pope.
- He omitted naming specific crises in the Urbi et Orbi blessing, focusing instead on Easter’s theme of hope and renewal.
- On Good Friday, Leo became the first pope in decades to carry the cross through all 14 Stations of the Cross at the Colosseum.
- Despite security restrictions in Jerusalem, Christian communities in Gaza and Tehran marked Easter under challenging circumstances.
Let us allow our hearts to be transformed by his immense love for us! Let those who have weapons lay them down! Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace! Not a peace imposed by force, but through dialogue! Not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them!— Pope Leo XIV, during his first Easter Mass as pope, from the loggia of St. Peter's Basilica, urging peace and dialogue.
