- Greene, a 67-year-old real estate executive, spoke to the Financial Times for a profile of Trump’s Florida property.
- Greene joined Mar-a-Lago in 2010, felt more welcome there than at other exclusive Palm Beach clubs, but was never personally close to Trump.
- Greene said his hope of becoming close to Trump appeared to end after his unsuccessful 2018 gubernatorial primary campaign, in which he sought to challenge Trump-endorsed Ron DeSantis.
- Greene described encounters in 2020 at the 16th hole and later in the grill room in which Trump allegedly attacked him over finishing fourth and his campaign spending; Forbes reported that Greene spent $30 million.
"It's all transactional. They want to be around him because he's the ex-president," Greene said. "He likes people to defer to him … and tell him how good he is."— Greene said in an interview with the Financial Times.
