- In October, Gillis joked during the U.S. opening monologue that women dressed like prostitutes after he had been away from the gym.
- The joke drew criticism from Dan Levy and former U.S. SNL cast members Ego Nwodim and Cecily Strong, among others.
- On “Weekend Update,” Magliano introduced her profane mockery with a story about shorts protecting women from voyeuristic filming at Munich’s Oktoberfest.
- Clips of Magliano’s appearance spread on X; one critic called “SNL UK” funnier than the original after six second-season episodes.
Oh, Shane, you’re not allowed to say that, you stupid fucking cunt.— Ania Magliano, Weekend Update UK anchor, delivering the roast of Shane Gillis after noting his use of the F-word.

- A clip obtained by LateNighter, absent from the broadcast, shows Gillis leaving through center stage before the goodbyes conclude.
- Gillis’ third SNL hosting appearance followed his 2019 firing before debut, after clips resurfaced showing racist, homophobic, and other offensive language.
- Dan Levy criticized the comments, described as misogynistic, about women’s gym clothing in a subsequent video posted on Instagram.
- The departure recalled Morgan Wallen’s similar March 2025 walk-off, although Gillis exchanged pleasantries with several cast members beforehand.
Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them wh---s. It makes the men calling them ‘wh---s,’ misogynists. There’s a difference there.— Dan Levy, Schitt’s Creek creator and star, in a video posted to Instagram.
