- In 2024, the birth rate in Switzerland continued to decline, reflecting a trend that began in late 2020.
- Most European countries, except Italy, Spain, and Portugal, are experiencing a drop in birth rates, with Switzerland at 1.3 children per woman by the end of 2023.
- A study highlights inflation and the start of vaccinations as factors correlating with the birth rate decline, indicating that the pandemic is no longer the primary cause.
- Additional societal changes, such as housing shortages and decreasing marriage rates, may also contribute to this decline.
