Smith’s Closed-Door Session on Trump InvestigationsSpecial counsel Smith presented evidence on Trump’s 2020 election interference and classified documents hoarding in a private hearing.
- Jack Smith stated in a private interview that his team gathered proof of Trump’s criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.
- He highlighted compelling evidence that Trump illegally hoarded classified materials and obstructed government recovery efforts.
- Smith affirmed his prosecutorial decisions were made without political bias and would pursue charges again under similar facts.
- The closed-door session before the House Judiciary Committee marks Smith’s first chance to address questions on these investigations.
I made my decisions in the investigation without regard to President Trump’s political association, activities, beliefs, or candidacy in the 2024 election.— Jack Smith during a closed-door interview before the House Judiciary Committee.
