  • With the aim of prioritizing the protection of civilians in the interpretation of the convention, Ireland intends to submit a Declaration of Intervention under Article 63 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice.

  • After a thorough analysis and consultation, the government has decided to intervene in the case, condemning the violation of international law due to the events in Israel and Gaza.

  • The filing of the declaration will occur post-government approval and after South Africa has submitted its memorial. Ireland will collaborate with other partners to intervene.
