- The government led by Chancellor Merz intends to eliminate the eight-hour daily work limit in favor of a weekly maximum.
- CSU Secretary Martin Huber highlights that this change will offer greater flexibility for small businesses and improve work-family balance.
- Currently, German law restricts the maximum daily working time to eight hours, extendable to ten hours temporarily.
- The reform also includes tax incentives for overtime pay and bonuses linked to increased working hours.
The flexibilization of working hours is right and necessary: This allows us to enable employees and employers to find individual and tailored models to better organize family and professional life.— CSU Secretary General Martin Huber on the necessity of flexibilizing working hours.

- Zurich SVP National Councilor Nina Fehr Düsel demands stricter actions against repeat offenders from Maghreb lacking valid asylum status.
- A broadly supported proposal is planned to extend 48-hour fast-track procedures for theft and burglary cases.
- The federal government should consider agreements allowing convicts to serve sentences in their home countries, possibly with Swiss financial aid.
- Justice Minister Beat Jans expresses skepticism about such measures, citing European precedents and the sensitive nature of asylum policies.
The offenders in Switzerland have hardly anything to fear – local prisons would hardly deter them.— Nina Fehr Düsel about the impact of the Swiss justice system on repeat offenders from the Maghreb.

- Children below 16 are now prohibited from holding accounts on services like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
- The law, passed in late 2024, allows platforms a year to enforce the new age restrictions.
- Platforms are responsible for verifying users’ ages or risk penalties reaching 49.5 million Australian dollars.
- The government aims to curb online bullying and encourage more offline activities among young people.
The first solution of an education politician cannot be to ban something. The first solution is always education, to impart skills to young people.— Quentin Gärtner from the Federal Student Conference expressed this criticism of the social media ban for under-16s in Australia.
