- The YouTube channel ‘8 Passengers’ documented the family’s life with six children, attracted more than 2.2 million subscribers and ended after seven years.
- After the 12-year-old boy escaped from Hildebrandt’s home in southern Utah on August 30, he and his then nine-year-old sister were hospitalized and placed in state custody with two other siblings.
- Franke and Hildebrandt pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse each, with Franke admitting violence against her son and Hildebrandt acknowledging abuse of her daughter.
- Each charge carries one to 15 years in prison to be served consecutively, while Utah law limits the aggregate term to 30 years.
My willingness to sacrifice all for you was masterfully manipulated into something very ugly. I took from you all that was soft and safe and good.— Ruby Franke said this to her children during the sentencing hearing in St George, Utah.
