- The three main contenders are incumbent Ademola Adeleke of Accord, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
- Control of the 30 local governments remains disputed, although many observers believe the APC currently controls them, while an NURTW faction sympathetic to the party controls the motor parks.
- Police have deployed 15,000 officers, barred Amotekun and other paramilitary units from election duty, and denied allegations of intimidation made by Adeleke supporters.
- The analysis currently gives Adeleke a slight advantage, while opposition vote fragmentation and results in Osogbo and Olorunda could prove decisive.
Governor Adeleke is confused; that is why he is shouting about rigging. We are not like them in 2022 when they rigged the APC out through internal sabotage. This time, he should know that the people of Osun are the ones who will vote for APC and send him packing on August 15.— Bola Oyebamiji, APC candidate for Osun governorship, commenting on the 2022 rigging allegations and the upcoming August 15 election.

- On Sunday, Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s PDP faction endorsed APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji in Osogbo for the poll scheduled for 15 August.
- The faction said it was not leaving the PDP, citing insufficient inclusion in government affairs under Adeleke.
- On Monday, Victor Akande, chairman of Osun Accord, said the endorsement would not prevent Adeleke’s reelection.
- Akande alleged Oyinlola opposed Adeleke in 2018 and 2022, naming Akinbade and Oladipo among the 2022 opponents.
Osun Accord remains ever strong and Governor Adeleke remains unbeatable in the forthcoming polls. Those who left have never really supported the governor in previous election battles.— Victor Akande, Osun Accord Party Chairman, describing the Accord’s stance on the endorsement and Adeleke’s re-election prospects.
