- Marjane Satrapi gained fame with her autobiographical comic 'Persepolis' and passed away at age 56.
- She made her Hollywood directorial debut in 2014 with the surreal horror-comedy 'The Voices,' showcasing Reynolds' finest acting.
- 'The Voices' follows a schizophrenic factory worker whose hallucinations create a darkly comedic narrative.
- Critics praised Satrapi’s confident direction and Reynolds’ dynamic performance, highlighting the film’s blend of humor and tragedy.
Grisly but not especially suspenseful, tongue-in-cheek without any real wit, 'The Voices' aims to hit the intersection of horror and comedy but tumbles into an uncanny valley of tedious creepiness.— A.O. Scott, writing for The New York Times
