An investigation by Greater Manchester police is looking into allegations that the deputy Labour leader provided inaccurate information to the electoral register while residing between two houses in Stockport during the 2010s, and they have initiated interviews with neighbors at her previous residence.

Police intervention occurred following accusations by prominent Conservatives, including James Daly, the Conservative deputy chairman, of electoral law violations and questioning whether she owed up to £3,500 in capital gains tax on proceeds from the sale of her former council house in 2015.

Rayner asserted that the residence on Vicarage Road was her primary domicile.
