Summary created with AI assistance · Source: nytimes.com

He died at home Friday morning, with his wife Diana at his side.

As a player, Ditka helped the Bears win the 1963 NFL championship and the Cowboys in 1971.

In 1988, Ditka became the first tight end inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame; the Bears retired No. 89 25 years later.

As coach, he led Chicago to a 46-10 Super Bowl XX victory over New England on January 26, 1986.

"The good news is we will win the Super Bowl," he told them. "But the bad news is half of you won’t be here when we get there."— Mike Ditka to his Bears players at the first team meeting in suburban Phoenix, spring 1985; promising a Super Bowl win and warning that half would not be there when they got there.

Summary created with AI assistance · Source: indystar.com

Jonathan Owens, a 30-year-old safety with NFL experience, was signed by the Colts for the 2026 season.

He previously contributed as both a starter and special teamer with the Texans, Packers, and Bears.

Following the loss of two safeties in free agency, the Colts sought to bolster defensive depth with Owens and Juanyeh Thomas.

Owens offers valuable experience and ball-hawking skills that the Colts expect to enhance their defense next year.

So proud of you baby. Indy, here we come.
