- On Saturday, March 28, Peter Alexander announced on Weekend Today that he would leave the program and NBC News.
- He attributed the decision to the long trips between Washington, D.C., and New York City and to wanting more time with his family, saying he had spent more than 80 nights away in the previous seven months and more than 220 Friday nights apart from them over seven years.
- Two days later, Alexander said on Instagram that he would take over Ana Cabrera’s 11 a.m. hour on MS Now and also work as a breaking news anchor and chief national reporter.
- NBC has not named Alexander’s replacement, while the article identifies Joe Fryer, Savannah Sellers, Kaylee Hartung, Brian Cheung, Gadi Schwartz and Vicky Nguyen as possible candidates.
As I was taught, family first, the rest is details.— Peter Alexander, announcing his departure from NBC's Weekend Today.
