White Nationalists March Amid 250th Independence FestivitiesOn July 4 weekend, Patriot Front marched masked through D.C., blending into crowds during America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
- The Patriot Front held a march in Washington D.C. on July 4th, with members wearing uniforms and masks to present a unified front.
- They carried flags including altered U.S. and Confederate symbols while chanting slogans around heavily trafficked public areas.
- Law enforcement monitored the event without making arrests, treating it as a peaceful assembly protected by the First Amendment.
- The demonstration coincided with official 250th Independence Day events, highlighting conflicting views on American identity and patriotism.
What they stand for is nothing that I could possibly agree with, but one of the foundational principles of the United States, which makes democracy messy, is free speech. And there are plenty of things that I might personally find offense and irreprehensible [sic]. But in America, free speech is allowed.— Doug Burgum, Secretary of the Interior, in a CNN interview about weekend events including the Patriot Front march.
