Purple Glow Over Stuttgart ExplainedOn Monday night, Stuttgart's MHP Arena's turf lights created purple sky hues, not auroras as initially claimed by some media.
- Purple lights appeared over Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt on Monday evening, sparking curiosity about possible auroras.
- The German Press Agency initially reported auroras but later retracted the statement.
- Astronomy expert Carolin Liefke stated solar activity was too low for auroras to be visible in that area.
- The purple illumination originated from the turf lighting system at the VfB Stuttgart stadium, visible under foggy conditions.
In this case, it was probably our Christmas gift to Stuttgart.— A spokesperson for VfB Stuttgart explains the purple lighting of the sky over Bad Cannstatt.
