- David Lammy condemned the leak of classified details from a national security council meeting regarding US-Iran tensions.
- Cabinet members initially disagreed over permitting US use of British bases for strikes before approval was granted on Sunday.
- Lammy affirmed the cabinet’s united stance behind the prime minister and emphasized defensive, not offensive, involvement.
- An investigation has been demanded due to the serious risk such leaks pose to British lives.
It’s an absolute travesty that there would be any kind of leak from an NSC meeting and the reason I think that is that it must be right that ministers are allowed to make their assessment supported by the chief of defence staff our intelligence agencies and others and we do nothing that would put our people at risk.— David Lammy, speaking to BBC Breakfast, described the leak from an NSC meeting as an absolute travesty and called for an investigation.
