Preview copies indicate Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft recommends generic monster statistics instead of unique Darklord stats.

The book explains horror types and uses the Domains of Dread to show how frightening elements can unfold during play.

Possible Darklord threats include long-term schemes, minions, plagues, and manipulation of dreams.

Victory should come through perseverance and resourcefulness in unraveling schemes, rather than a lucky critical hit.
