- Cheshire Constabulary officers were called to a house on Chester Street in Saltney on Wednesday, March 5, after hundreds of cannabis plants were discovered there.
- According to police, the rented property’s electricity supply had been bypassed, which can put the building at risk of fire.
- Officers were still at the scene on March 6, the force said, while plants and equipment were being removed.
- Inspector James Wilson said such operations could cause costly damage, while the force identified constantly covered windows, unusual heat and ventilation noise as possible warning signs.
Criminals will go to great lengths to find spaces to grow cannabis on an industrial scale, whether that’s finding disused buildings or renting properties from unsuspecting landlords or property agents. The grows can cause costly damage to property and the electric being bypassed can put the building at risk of fire.— Inspector James Wilson, Cheshire Constabulary — commenting on the discovery of cannabis grow operations in Saltney
