- The WWII bomb discovered on April 29 in Southway could not be moved due to an inconclusive X-ray of a secondary fuse.
- Armed Forces experts carried out a controlled in-situ detonation at 11 a.m. on May 1 to neutralize the device.
- Protective measures included transporting 450 tonnes of sand, building walls, and digging trenches to limit damage, though shrapnel was still propelled by the blast.
- The 400-meter exclusion zone remains active while officials perform structural inspections and safety assessments nearby.
The safety of our residents and businesses is, and always will be, our absolute priority.ā Sally Haydon, Councillor and Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Plymouth City Council, at a press conference at Crownhill Police Station.
