- Hundreds of military personnel ran with Hegseth around the Pentagon wearing matching shirts bearing a war-themed slogan.
- The Defense Department released two videos of the morning jog and Hegseth seemingly breathless at times while addressing participants.
- Hegseth referred to an earlier Quantico speech where he demanded annual height, weight, and fitness tests for military leaders.
- A HuffPost correspondent and other users criticized the spectacle, particularly because of the war-themed slogan.
"Last year, when we gave a speech at Quantico—we launched the War Department golden rule: Do unto your formation that which you would have done unto your son or daughter’s formation."— Pete Hegseth during a Quantico speech, describing the War Department golden rule and noting its translation to 'no games, no gimmicks, no low standards, and no excuses.'
