- Michael Mann’s 1986 thriller 'Manhunter' has been digitally restored to enhance its visual and audio fidelity for modern audiences.
- The film adapts Thomas Harris’s 'Red Dragon,' blending procedural crime drama with psychological horror centered on an FBI agent tracking a killer.
- Restoration involved a 4K scan of the original 35mm negatives and a new 5.1 sound mix supervised by Mann.
- 'Manhunter: The Final Cut' debuts at the Academy Museum on June 12 before opening in US theaters on July 24 and the UK on September 25.
We have carefully remastered the film to try to evoke that mood and intensity, heightened with audio sourced from the original 5.1 35mm analog masters. This latest iteration is that version of the film with which I'm most satisfied.— Michael Mann, discussing the remastering for Manhunter: Final Cut 4K restoration
