Key FactsPrenga rejects claims Joshua fight was fixed

The two first-round knockdowns reportedly threatened to derail Joshua’s planned fight with Tyson Fury.

Fans speculated about a fix, while TalkSport host Simon Jordan only said something was not quite right; Prenga, Frank Smith and Sergey Lapin rejected that suggestion.

Prenga said he slowed down to conserve energy, illness during camp had cost him training days and cardio work, and his corner had told him not to rush after round one.

A possible Joshua-Fury fight had previously been mooted for Wembley Stadium in November, while the United States has since been mentioned as another possible venue.

What do I make of Simon Jordan’s comments? Completely false, and irresponsible for anyone to suggest it. AJ and I have integrity, we would never engage in this stupidity.
— Kristian Prenga, responding to Simon Jordan's comments, told SveaCasino

Key FactsAnthony Joshua vows to support friends’ parents

Jun 2, 2026 · Reading time: ~45 sec.
Summary created with AI assistance · Source: mirror.co.uk

In December, the Jeep carrying Joshua in Nigeria collided with a stationary truck, killing Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami at the scene.

Joshua has not fought since the crash and is preparing for a planned return against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia in about a month.

Joshua said he was setting his own emotions aside for now and focusing on being there for Ayodele’s and Ghami’s parents.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said Joshua needed three months of rehabilitation before entering camp and that he had initially doubted whether Joshua would box again.

I'm just there for their parents. Number one is being a good soldier for them. Gotta look after the boys’ parents.
— Anthony Joshua spoke ahead of his return to the ring, describing his commitment to supporting the parents of his two friends who died in a car crash.
