- A Brandenburg court fined AfD politician Wilko Möller for an alleged Hitler salute on his election poster.
- The poster features parents raising arms to form a symbolic roof over children, resembling a CDU campaign image.
- The graphic designer mirrored the original photo, causing the man’s raised right arm to resemble the banned gesture.
- A legal expert questions the verdict and argues that democratic societies should respond to provocations with debate, not bans.
In a liberal democracy, we do not respond to provocations with bans, but with arguments and discussions.— Volker Boehme-Nessler, Professor of Public Law and Media and Telecommunications Law at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg, comments on the conviction of Wilko Möller.
