- Victoria Rance of the Stop the Silvertown Tunnel Coalition calls the £2bn technology outdated and warns of health damage lasting decades.
- Sadiq Khan and TfL expect less congestion and air pollution, alongside better transport links through zero-emission buses.
- Opponents fear increased traffic and pollution could worsen health in some of the country’s most deprived boroughs.
- Rance wants the tunnel repurposed for public transport and bicycles rather than used for motor traffic.
