- Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directed the military to reduce its four-star generals by 20% to promote efficiency.
- The National Guard is also required to eliminate 20% of its top positions, alongside a 10% reduction of general and flag officers across the force.
- Critics, including Representative Seth Moulton, express concerns that these actions may politicize the military and lead to political orders for troops.
- Hegseth faces further scrutiny as he has recently dismissed or reassigned several close advisors.
It is essential that our troops understand they are getting constitutional orders, not political orders.— Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., commented on the implications of Hegseth's orders on military structure.
