White House Ballroom Sparks Security Funding DebateFollowing a shooting attempt, lawmakers seek $400 million to build a secure ballroom expected to enhance presidential event safety.
- President Trump insists the new ballroom under construction would have prevented the recent White House Correspondents' dinner shooting.
- Senator Lindsay Graham and others propose congressional funding despite initial promises of private financing.
- A judge’s injunction halted construction, but recent events have intensified calls to resume the project for safety reasons.
- Former Secret Service agents highlight that hosting events on White House grounds offers stronger security than hotel venues.
This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough!— Donald Trump on Truth Social, Sunday; arguing the White House ballroom would have prevented the incident.
