- A current study by the Böblingen district chamber of the IHK ranks the county first in the Stuttgart region for purchasing power and 26th nationwide among 401 urban and rural districts.
- Nearly all 26 towns and municipalities in the county exceed the national per-capita average of €8,190; Ehningen leads with €9,377, followed by Grafenau and Nufringen.
- According to the IHK, stationary retailers in the county generated nearly €2.9 billion in sales, or €7,296 per resident, which is just over two percent above the national average.
- Sindelfingen records around €780 million in retail sales and €12,725 per resident and also has the county’s highest centrality index, while relatively little local purchasing power is retained in Aidlingen and Magstadt.
The high purchasing power in the district provides, in principle, good conditions for retail. However, it is crucial that this potential is also used locally. For this, all parties involved must work together to create attractive and lively city centers.— Marion Oker, Managing Director of the IHK District Chamber Böblingen, spoke about the district's purchasing power and the need for joint efforts to keep city centers attractive and vibrant.
