Report: Leverkusen omits Eichhorn from first-half plansThe 17-year-old entered inpatient treatment after the diagnosis; the duration of his absence remains unclear.
- Eichhorn had only recently moved from Hertha BSC to Leverkusen for a nine-million-euro fee and was initially firmly included in the plans for the new season.
- According to Bayer, the diagnosis followed excessive physical strain and weight loss, after which Eichhorn entered inpatient treatment at a specialised clinic.
- His workload has reportedly been reduced completely, and he is not expected to resume a programme until his weight and strength problems have been identified and resolved.
- According to the report, the absence is affecting central-midfield transfer planning, with at most one of Equi Fernandez, Aleix Garcia and Robert Andrich allowed to leave, while Bild reports that Exequiel Palacios wants to move.
Kennet is facing what we hope will be a very long career at the highest level. We will support him on this path in the best possible way.— Simon Rolfes, Bayer 04 Leverkusen's Sporting Director, in a Bayer Leverkusen statement
