- A tragic incident occurred at Viertola school in Vantaa, Finland, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old child due to a shooting. The suspected 12-year-old attacker was apprehended and is currently in custody. Authorities have confirmed the retrieval of the suspect's weapon.
- In addition to the deceased child, two other 12-year-old students were critically wounded by the gunfire. It was revealed that both the suspect and the victims belonged to the same class. The shooting took place at the Jokiranta campus, leading to an intervention by armed police officers.
- The school near Helsinki accommodates around 800 students aged seven to 16. Previous shooting incidents in Finland prompted stricter gun regulations, including the implementation of an aptitude test for firearm license applicants and an increase in the minimum age requirement to 20 years.
