Key FactsMicrosoft blocks inpoutx64 to curb Windows 11 game crashes
Aug 27, 2026 · Reading time: ~30 sec.
Summary created with AI assistance · Source: neowin.net
  • Microsoft’s initial investigation found that the game problems were linked not to KB5121003 but to RGB apps and their similarly named drivers.

  • The initial block prevents the enabled inpoutx64 driver from loading on devices with ARC Raiders installed; Microsoft plans to expand it to MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, while Embark Studios has already resolved the issue affecting THE FINALS.

  • The automatic resolution is being sent to unmanaged consumer and business devices, may take about 24 hours, and is slated for the September 2026 Patch Tuesday update and later cumulative updates.

  • On enterprise-managed devices, IT administrators must disable the driver through the Registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\inpoutx64 by setting the Start value to 4, which may affect RGB functionality.
