- William Shatner announced on Instagram, posing with a Gibson Les Paul, that a heavy-metal album is underway and described the project as an exploration of distortion.
- The release will contain 35 tracks, featuring covers of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest alongside several original songs.
- The idea arose after collaboration with Nuclear Messiah and ex‑Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland; Shatner says 35 metal virtuosos will participate, though individual names have not been revealed.
- The album is expected this year, was characterized by the metal portal Blabbermouth as a serious statement, and draws on Shatner's idiosyncratic music career since 1968 and past collaborations with rock icons.
That wasn't just a track — it was a door. It awakened in me the desire to dive in completely, to find the best metal musicians I could get, and to create something fearless.— William Shatner, describing how a Nuclear Messiah track inspired him to dive into metal and create something fearless.
