Quick Glance: Factbox: Neuralink: Everything You Need to Know About Elon Musk's Brain Chip Firm
  • December 7 (Reuters) - Elon Musk's Neuralink, which Reuters said on Monday is the subject of a federal inquiry into its animal testing program, has been working on developing a brain implant that would allow the paraplegic to walk and the blind to see.

  • Neuralink, founded in 2016 by Musk and a group of engineers, is developing a brain chip interface that can be implanted within the skull, allowing crippled patients to move and communicate again, as well as restore vision.

  • Musk stated last week that he believes Neuralink will be able to begin human clinical trials within six months.

Quick Glance: Elon Musk, CEO of Neuralink, anticipates human testing within six months.
  • Following a month-long hiatus in October, Neuralink had its third "show and tell" session on Wednesday, during which CEO Elon Musk stated, "we think probably in about six months, we should be able to have a Neuralink installed in a human."

  • Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and now Twitter, co-founded the brain-control interfaces (BCI) business Neuralink six years ago.

  • Neuralink is currently attempting to obtain FDA approval for its implant, after receiving the agency's Breakthrough Device Designation in July 2020.

  • "In many ways it's like a Fitbit in your skull, with tiny wires," Musk said of Neuralink's device during a livestream event in 2021.

Kering CEO Aims to Improve Results by Yearend Amid Gucci Turnaround
Quick Glance: Time for Kering’s King to Consider a Step Back
  • Francois-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering, should consider bringing in fresh blood and possibly appointing a new CEO.

  • In any sector other than luxury, shareholders might have already stepped in to suggest a change at the helm, but at Kering, founding families tightly control the company.

  • The board of Kering should apply pressure on the chairman to at least give up the CEO role.

  • Pinault should step back into the chairman's job and leave a new Kering chief the independence they will need.
