- TOKYO -- According to Nikkei, China destroyed an object thought to be shaped like a Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) aircraft in a desert area of Xinjiang after analyzing satellite images with experts.
- The device could have been used for missile assault practice on fictitious targets in Japan.
- Photographs taken in mid-May of the same site revealed an item resembling an E-767, an aerial warning and control system (AWACS) employed by the SDF, a runway, and buildings resembling tarmac.
