  • Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and Education Minister Jan Tinetti have confirmed that this year's Budget will include funding for 300 new classrooms and 'up to four' new schools.

  • The funding will create 6600 more student spaces, with 2200 of those taking effect immediately.

  • The Budget will add funding for another 300 new classrooms through a $300m package, with $100m going towards addressing short-term pressures and $200m focused on permanent roll growth.

  • The new schools and classrooms will be located in growth areas and areas of need as determined through the National Growth Plan.
