- The postponement was announced at Stadionbetriebs AG’s general meeting and emailed to more than 70,000 members almost simultaneously.
- According to Dirk Zingler, the move after the 2026 Christmas singalong was impossible for 2027 home matches because of emissions requirements.
- Construction starts immediately after the 2026/27 season; upon returning in summer 2028, the stadium will be usable but not fully expanded.
- Because of a changed transport concept, Union initially plans for 34,500 instead of 40,500 spectators; all tickets are expected to cost one or two euros more.
During the phase of lower capacity approvals, we will operate the standing areas with a correspondingly reduced occupancy. The economic disadvantage arising from this will be offset by all stadium visitors through a small price surcharge.— Dirk Zingler, President of 1. FC Union Berlin, at the shareholders' meeting of Stadionbetriebs AG
