Tram Derailment Near Bonn Central Station AgainOn November 27, a Line 61 tram derailed in the southern underpass; emergency crews worked over five hours on site.
- A Line 61 tram derailed on Monday afternoon in the Quantiusstraße near Bonn's southern underpass by the central station.
- The track between Haus-der-Jugend and the central station was closed; no passengers were on board and no injuries occurred.
- Firefighters used hydraulic cylinders to lift the tram off a traffic island where it had become wedged and returned it to the tracks.
- Lines 61 and 62 were separated, bus replacements provided, and the route reopened by evening with some delays remaining.
The train on this Monday, however, did not derail at the same spot, but several meters further towards Quantiusstraße at a storage track located there.— Maximilian Mühlens, spokesperson for Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB), explains the circumstances of the derailment.
