- Moeve has begun construction in Huelva on Onuba, the first phase of Andalusia’s green hydrogen valley.
- Moeve expects the project initially to provide 300 MW of electrolysis capacity and around 45,000 tonnes annually.
- Hydrogen could supply alternatives for certain heavy-industry and chemical processes, as well as parts of shipping and aviation.
- Spain aims for twelve GW of electrolysis capacity by 2030, while costs, infrastructure and sufficient buyers remain obstacles.
This transformation is therefore not only about protecting us better against crises, even if that is very important. It also means that we are seizing an enormous industrial opportunity.— Pedro Sánchez, Spanish prime minister, at the presentation of the project in Huelva
