- The FBI arrested 30-year-old Virginia resident Brian J. Cole, who is accused of building and placing both devices.
- Thomas Massie said a protected disclosure led him to believe Cole was the wrong man or may have been heavily manipulated.
- The government says Cole assembled the bombs from materials bought over two years and placed them the evening before certification.
- Loudermilk asked Karlin Younger, who found one device, for a transcribed interview; she has not responded.
I had another protected disclosure last night from a whistleblower on this case, which leads me to believe they've got the wrong guy, or he is being — he was highly manipulated, if he had anything to do with it. His level of functioning is, I think, lower than is being reported.— Thomas Massie, in a HuffPost interview, referring to the arrest of Brian J. Cole in the Jan. 6 pipe-bomb case.
