During a presentation at the Yarovit Hall Congress Center in Moscow on Monday, AIdol lost its balance after a few steps, fell, and brought the demonstration to an early end.

Idol CEO Vladimir Vitukhin attributed the fall to possible calibration problems caused by stereo cameras being overly sensitive to the hall’s lighting; the robot later stayed upright with handlers’ assistance, and Vitukhin said it was not damaged.

According to the company, AIdol is intended to walk, manipulate objects, and communicate with people, operate autonomously for up to six hours, and display at least 12 basic emotions and hundreds of microexpressions, while all systems function offline.

The company says 77% of the components are Russian-made and plans to raise that share to 93% for eventual mass production; intended uses include manufacturing, logistics, banks, and airports, but no production date or AI system was disclosed.
