CPR and Defibrillator Questions Added to Driving TestStarting early 2026, 2.4 million UK learner drivers will face CPR-related questions in the theory test to improve emergency response.
- The UK Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency will include CPR and defibrillator knowledge in the driving theory test.
- This initiative aims to increase survival rates since drivers are often first to encounter cardiac arrest victims.
- Learning materials now teach essential life-saving techniques, including the correct method for chest compressions.
- Research shows that prompt CPR and defibrillator use can raise survival chances to as high as 70%.
We're delighted to be working with the DVSA and other partners to introduce CPR and defibrillator awareness into the driving theory test.— James Cant, chief executive of Resuscitation Council UK, expressed his enthusiasm about the introduction of CPR in the driving test.
