- Production of Mortal Kombat 2 concluded in early 2024, featuring Hiroyuki Sanada with a more prominent role as Scorpion than in the original movie.
- Scorpion is expected to appear mainly at the beginning and end of the film, mirroring his limited but impactful presence in the 2021 release.
- The sequel introduces major new characters, including Johnny Cage, Shao Khan, Princess Kitana, and the necromancer Quan Chi.
- Director Simon McQuoid returns, maintaining much of the original crew to preserve the first film's tone and style.
Yeah, exactly, he was a bookend. 10 minutes and 10 minutes. [Laughs] It all depends on the editing, but yeah, I was there. It was a great reunion on set, most of the cast from the first movie, maybe four or five big new characters in it.— Hiroyuki Sanada discusses his role as Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 2.
