Intel cites further causes of desktop CPU instabilityA patch for certain 13th- and 14th-generation Core i processors is targeted for mid-August after validation.
- Intel says a faulty microcode algorithm requests excessive voltage from some 13th- and 14th-generation desktop processors.
- Intel is targeting patch release to partners for mid-August after full validation; BIOS updates are expected to include it.
- A previously identified Thermal Velocity Boost bug could likewise run processors at excessive voltage; corresponding BIOS updates are available.
- According to an Intel employee on Reddit, manufacturing problems in the 2023 Intel-7 process can destabilize Core i-12000, 13000, and 14000 processors.
