- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 11962 in Manila on Wednesday, September 27.
- The Trabaho Para Sa Bayan Inter-Agency Council is tasked with drafting, implementing, monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating the national master plan.
- The plan will include support for MSMEs, worker upskilling, employer incentives, youth employment, and reintegration of overseas Filipino workers.
- The Philippine Statistics Authority reported in August that June’s unemployment rate reached 4.5%, versus 4.3% in May, with 2.3 million jobless Filipinos.
The law will help us solve the various challenges plaguing our labor sector, such as low quality jobs, skills mismatch, and underemployment, among others. It likewise addresses the need to update the skills of our workers and promote the use of digital technologies, particularly for our micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises or MSMEs.— President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said in his speech after the signing ceremonies in Malacañang.
