- Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced a unilateral 30-hour ceasefire for humanitarian reasons, running from Saturday evening until midnight on Easter Sunday.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, citing army commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported 1,882 Russian shelling incidents, including 812 involving heavy weapons, while Russia’s Defence Ministry accused Ukraine of more than 1,000 violations.
- Zelensky proposed halting drone and missile attacks on civilian targets for at least 30 days, while Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Putin had not ordered an extension.
- Believers gathered outside a damaged church’s ruins in Lukashivka, while the Religion on Fire project reported about 530 Ukrainian churches damaged or destroyed and at least 25 clergy members killed since February 2022.
Either Putin does not have full control over his army, or the situation proves that in Russia, they have no intention of making a genuine move toward ending the war, and are only interested in favourable PR coverage,— Volodymyr Zelensky, in a social media post about the ceasefire
