- Families of sailors reported weeks of dwindling supplies, inadequate food, broken toilets, and a lack of hygiene and maintenance aboard both ships, which the article says damaged morale and sparked a significant mental health crisis among sailors.
- New reports allege that several sailors tried to throw themselves overboard from the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been at sea since November with only two days in port.
- Democrats are demanding answers, and Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal called for immediate attention to the reports in a letter to Pete Hegseth and acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao.
- Hegseth downplayed the crisis while praising the sailors, whereas Donald Trump denied that families were worried about their relatives at sea.
He describes the overall experience as a scene out of American Horror Story, where he feels like everybody is dead, but they don’t know it yet.— Danielle Rapa, whose son is on board the Lincoln, told news reporters.
