- According to EVM, a technical defect at a gas station caused the gas supply failure in Lahnstein overnight Monday, reportedly affecting several hundred households.
- Energienetze Mittelrhein (enm) had already closed the main shut-off valves in most households on Tuesday and expected to seal the remaining 115 connections on Wednesday, September 7.
- Only after all household connections had been closed was gas to be restored to the affected section of the network, followed by checks and a gradual restart in individual homes.
- EVM said around 50 employees were working on the restoration, while a local brewery and vocational school might still require civil engineering work.
Top priority is the quickest possible restoration of the gas supply.— Marcelo Peerenboom, spokesperson for the evm Group, on the restoration of the gas supply in Lahnstein.
