- Water providers such as Thames Water and Yorkshire Water imposed hosepipe bans in multiple English regions starting in July 2025 due to sustained dry weather.
- The restrictions cover areas including Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, and parts of Yorkshire, with specific postcode zones affected.
- Exceptions allow watering with cans, irrigating food crops on allotments, and filling fish ponds despite the bans.
- Lifting the bans depends on significant rainfall replenishing reservoirs and reducing water demand to manageable levels.
We will keep the position under constant review. This really is just a temporary measure to help us in these very unusual circumstances.— South East Water, regarding the hosepipe ban due to unusual weather conditions.
