Bergkamen plans higher daycare and school-care feesMore than 1,200 people signed two petitions, while families face substantially higher daycare and school-care costs.
- Katharina Hölscher’s younger son could cost 588 euros for roughly 45 weekly hours, an increase of 468 euros.
- Under the current rates, Ann Christin Richarz would pay 120 euros for her children, but potentially 809 euros for her youngest daughter alone.
- Planned OGS fees could reach 242 euros monthly; the Hölscher family could face more than 5,600 euros in annual extra costs.
- Bergkamen’s Left Party and SPD oppose the planned increases; the council is due to decide on Thursday.
We ran the numbers. For our son, who will soon be starting at the daycare, that would be 588 euros. That would be 468 euros more.— Katharina Hölscher, a Bergkamen mother; described in the article the cost impact of the proposed Kita fee increase.
