The Cubs are exploring options to improve their pitching staff with both short-term and long-term acquisitions, including Iglesias and Gore.

Raisel Iglesias, despite a 5.09 ERA, shows strong advanced metrics and could strengthen Chicago’s bullpen reliability.

MacKenzie Gore remains a challenging target as the Nationals consider him untouchable and demand a steep price.

Elite prospect Owen Caissie might only be included in a trade if it involves a controllable front-line starter like Gore.

It is not a focus of mine to move him.
— Mike DeBartolo, the Nationals' interim GM, regarding MacKenzie Gore.
